Ich bin auf der Suche nach einer Gitarre mit Humbucker gewesen, insbesondere, um jazzige Stücke zu spielen. Den Aufschlag habe ich mit einer LGB 30 von Ibanez gemacht. Drei Gitarren habe ich ausprobiert und alle hatten große Qualitätsprobleme (Tuner, überlackierte Leimreste). Als nächstes habe ich eine D'Angelico Throwback probiert, die ebenfalls hinsichtlich der Verarbeitung nicht den Erwartungen entsprach (Tuner und Lacknasen).
Als ich schon fast etwas verzweifelt war, habe ich vor Ort im Ladengeschäft die Excel Viola probiert und war sofort begeistert. Sie spielt sich toll, hat einen hervorragenden Klang und die Qualität ist weitestgehend in Ordnung. Hier und da sind ein paar unsaubere Stellen am Bindung zu finden. Die Gitarre war gut eingestellt. Sie bietet einen tollen cleanen Hollow-Body Sound, kann aber genauso gut mit Overdrive eingesetzt werden. Die Mechaniken machen einen guten Eindruck. Der Koffer könnte etwas wertiger sein.

Insgesamt kann ich die Gitarre nur wärmstens empfehlen - sie spielt sich hervorragend, klingt schön und ist durch das Coil Splitting extrem vielseitig und sieht darüber hinaus noch wunderschön aus.

Arrivata nei tempi previsti in ottimo stato, imballaggio fatto bene. La custodia pecca un po', un po' deboluccia e mi si è graffiata subito, lascia peletti sulla chitarra e ho dovuto mettere un panno interno fra chitarra e custodia, ma la chitarra è fantastica. Esteticamente molto bella, con le sue finiture oro e color rosso lucido, veramente una favola. Il suono poi è ottimo, molto versatile, gli humbucker USA Seymour Duncan 59 passano dal suono caldo jazz al suono più graffiante rock e blues con molta facilità. Normale è stato un settaggio del manico da un liutaio per via degli sbalzi di umidità e temperatura subiti dal viaggio. Fondamentalmente la ho scelta per via delle dimensioni moderate del manico: avendo una mano piccola, cercavo una chitarra con impronta jazz ma comunque congeniale anche con altri generi, che si potesse adattare alla mia mano...secondo una mia ricerca personale che non dico sia stata perfetta e inderogabile, era l'unica chitarra con dimensioni del capotasto sotto i 43 mm.. Ed infatti la suonabilita' è molto facile, un piacere, una poesia suonarla. Gran chitarra, per la vita.

Ich hatte bisher in meinem Leben nur günstigere Gitarren von HB, Ibanez oder No-Name Marken. Habe also vor dieser Gitarre den Preisbereich von 400€ nie überschritten. Das hat sich aber absolut gelohnt!

Also eingefleischter Blues, Jazz und Soul Fan komme ich hier auf meine Kosten. Selbst für (Hard-)Rock ist sich die Excel nicht zu schade. Die Klänge sind warm, dynamisch und voll. Wenn man in Richtung eines Chicago oder Texas Blues will sind die splitbaren Humbucker auf jeden Fall nützlich. Natürlich kein klassischer Fender Sound wie wir ihn von SRV und Konsorten kennen und lieben. Dennoch nicht zu unterschätzen!

Für mich ist die Gitarre ein echter Allrounder der sich perfekt für Menschen mit einer Vorliebe der Klassiker eignet, die nicht für jedes Genre eine neue Gitarre kaufen wollen. Mal davon abgesehen dass wir alle wissen dass es sowieso darauf hinaus läuft.
