Buffet Crampon ICON Clarinet Bell silver

Besten Dank an Thomann, dass ich den ICON Klarinetten-Becher mal testen konnte. Getestet wurde an einer älteren Buffet Crampon aus den 80igern.

Tief E und F sind ja tendenziell immer etwas zu tief bei Klarinetten ohne Korrekturmöglichkeit dieser beiden Töne.
Der ICON Becher hatte an meiner Klari absolut keinen Einfluss auf die Stimmung von tief E, F.
Eigentlich hatte ich ein wenig die Hoffnung, dass da eine positive Wirkung auszumachen ist.
Der ICON Becher ist deutlich leichter als der Original Becher. Im Spiel bemerkte ich diesen Gewichtsunterschied aber nicht.
Ob die Geometrie auch etwas anderes ist, kann ich nicht beurteilen.

Was mir nicht wirklich gefallen hat ist die Fertigungsqualität. Aussen kommt der Becher schön daher, aber der äussere Radius am unteren Rand ist rauh, nicht poliert, wirkt irgendwie unfertig.
Ausserdem war der versilberte Ring locker, so dass man ihn ohne Widerstand von Hand abziehen konnte. Mag sein, dass das der Ring hält, wenn eine höhere Luftfeuchtigkeit herrscht, trotzdem erwarte ich da bessere Fertigung.

M.E. lohnt sich die Anschaffung nicht, wenn man nicht ohnehin einen neuen Becher benötigt.

I recently purchased ICON clarinet barrels ( 64, 65,66 mm) and an ICON bell for my Buffet RC B flat and A clarinets that were manufactured in 1977. They were Buffet's top professional models at the time and in the opinion of many, its clarinets from that era remain competitive with many of the best instruments of today.
In my opinion, the combination of the ICON barrels and bell constitute a significant upgrade. While the appreciation of acoustic characteristics does vary from individual to individual, the ICON barrels and bell produced a darker, richer, more complex and more coherent sound throughout all registers. My instruments were easier to control and so there were improvements in articulation, response as well an improved capacity for musical expression.
The barrels and the bell individually produced improvements that were similar in nature but the combination definitely amounted to results that were greater than the sum of their parts.

Highly recommended as a relatively inexpensive upgrade that yields very impressive results.

The ICON silver bell gives a nice soft, round, kind of 'intimate' sound to my clarinet. It makes it possible to play very soft ppp's in a small room; it actually made it possible to play the Brahms' "Cradle Song" in such a way that the child just might have fallen asleep.

On my setup this bell 'muffles' the overall soud so much that I cannot use it in larger halls without amplification, but in small to medium rooms it works just nice.

The craftsmanship on this product isn't quite as good as I would have expected from a Buffet title: unfiled, sharp edges, clear marks of CNC machining. But it works.
