No, it's not gremlins

Every musician has heard the horror stories: Cracked finishes, warped necks, loose glue joints, sharp fret edges, or even collapsed tops. It often feels like the instrument has fallen victim to some mysterious, malevolent force. Thankfully, it's not mischievous gremlins lurking in the dark – just less than ideal humidity. Wooden instruments are sensitive to their environment, only really remaining stable when stored between an ideal humidity range of 40% and 60% at room temperature. Maintaining that balance is simple with Boveda 49% – a reliable, low-maintenance, two-way humidity control solution that protects valuable instruments without any hassle or high costs.

Boveda Starter Kit Standard L

Three months of humidity control

Boveda uses the natural process of osmosis to maintain the ideal humidity level. Inside each individual Boveda 49% pack is a specialised salt solution that automatically balances moisture levels – absorbing excess humidity when the air is too damp and releasing it when conditions are too dry. This helps keep the humidity level very close to 49% (hence the product's name), which is ideal for wooden instruments. This simple, self-regulating system provides hassle-free protection for all wooden instruments. Just place the pack – in its special sleeve – inside the instrument case, ensuring it's not pressing against anything, and it will maintain stable humidity for up to three months. When the pack hardens, simply replace it. Regardless of the season – whether it's dry indoor heating or humid summer heat – Boveda keeps instruments consistently and reliably protected.

Keep your instruments safe!

The Boveda Starter Kit L is tailored for larger wooden instruments such as acoustic guitars and basses, as well as cellos, bassoons, and bass clarinets – including the largest of them all, the double bass. It offers near-instant protection in a compact, easy-to-use format – providing reliable humidity control for a wide range of instrument types. To ensure maximum protection, the Boveda packs should always be placed in the sleeves provided, which help prevent leaks in the rare event of breakage and also protect the instrument's finish from contact damage. The kit includes one Single and one Double Holder, allowing the correct number of packs to used for every type of instrument – be it placed beneath the strings or near the headstock. With the three B49% packs included, this kit offers a complete solution for properly storing and protecting valuable instruments in humid or dry environments.

About Boveda

Since 1997, Boveda has been a leader in humidity control solutions. The company was built on the innovations of Dr. Al Saari, who developed a unique salt solution, and packaging expert Robert Esse. Their pioneering efforts have resulted in patented packs that provide reliable humidity regulation for a variety of products, from cigars to musical instruments. Anything requiring specific humidity protection benefits from Boveda’s solutions. Designed as sustainable and intelligent tools, Boveda packs are a simple yet effective way to maintain precise humidity levels, safeguarding items from the adverse effects of excess moisture or dryness.

Smart solution

A Boveda Starter Kit is a smart, reliable solution for protecting wooden instruments. Designed around a completely sustainable approach, each pack contains only water and food-grade salt in a precise ratio – no harsh chemicals, no gimmicks. This ensures long-term stability, helping keep instruments in optimal condition while reducing the risk of costly repairs. This standard version is recommended for general use, and climates with lower humidity; the High Absorbency (HA) variant is designed for environments where the humidity levels are consistently over 60%. It's important not to use Boveda packs alongside other humidity control products, as this can disrupt the self-regulating process. Simple, effective, and affordable, Boveda offers a dependable way to safeguard instruments from humidity-related damage.

Boveda humidifiers are suitable for more than just guitars – they're ideal for any wooden instrument. Whether it's woodwind instruments and their accessories or orchestral string instruments, Boveda offers a simple, effective, and affordable way to protect valuable instruments from humidity-related damage.

Good enough

I don't know what it is but my experience with Boveda is somewhat mixed. I've been using the 69% version for my cigars for years and at first they worked flawlessly, until they didn't. Now fresh packs seem unable to lower the humidity down to an appropriate range.

I'm also using Boveda 49% with my acoustic in a hardshell wooden case and now my new classical in a Hiscox case. The results are again slightly mixed, fresh packs being unable to increase the humidity to the level required.

The question is what else am I going to use? My humidity is akin to a desert in the summer and a jungle in the winter, so maybe I'm just pushing these packs to their absolute limits. In either case, a 2-way regulation is the only way to go about keeping my babies as safe as possible under these conditions.

Tut, was es soll

Seit eine meiner Gitarren einen Riss hatte, letzten Winter, ist dies Pflicht.
Zumindest in den trockenen Monaten gehen die hochwertigen Gitarren in den Koffer, mit so einem Pack.
