USB mic designed for content creators
The AKG Ara is a compact USB‑C microphone expressly designed for straightforward recording applications on a computer or USB device. The mic gives even inexperienced users immediate access to the world of podcasting, streaming, and home recording without a dedicated audio interface, as well as facilitating online meetings. Because the mic can switch between two different recording modes, it's capable both of accurately capturing a single performer and of simultaneously recording two sound sources positioned opposite one another. There are controls for adjusting essential settings like level, mute, and headphone directly on the microphone. All this comes together to make the AKG Ara a space‑saving solution for recording voices and creating content with a minimum of technical fuss.
Dual-capsule functionality
Technologicaly speaking, the AKG Ara is a condenser microphone with direct USB-C connectivity for computers and compatible mobile devices; it processes audio signals at a resolution of 24‑bit and 96kHz. Sound is captured through its dual‑capsule array, with the two capsules integrated into the housing enabling the different recording modes and, depending on the selected setting, various functional configurations. Another practical feature is the Ara's insensitivity to popping noises: This is due in part to the construction of the microphone grille, which attenuates the air pressure from plosive sounds before they reaches the diaphragm. A built‑in headphone output rounds out this mic's focused feature set, for low‑latency monitoring during recording.
Clean sound for the digital era
The AKG Ara is aimed at users who are looking for a straightforward desktop microphone for voice recordings or simple audio productions. Streamers, podcasters, and content creators al stand to benefit from the direct USB connection, which allows the microphone to be integrated into virtually any setup without an additional audio interface. The AKG Ara is also suitable for many other applications where speech intelligibility is crucial, such as online meetings, remote teaching, or presentations. For musicians and creatives who are new to recording, the Ara also provides an easy way for them to simply use a laptop to make their first recordings, without demanding much in the way of technical knowledge.
About AKG
AKG was founded in Vienna, in 1947, by Dr. Rudolf Goerike and Ernst Pless. After only a few months, the first AKG microphones were already being used for the first time in radio stations and theatres. AKG's big breakthrough occurred during the early 1950s, with some very sophisticated innovations that were unique in their field. One example is the D12, the first large-diaphragm condenser microphone with remote-controlled, switchable polar patterns – the first client to acquire them was the BBC in London. AKG is today a world-renowned brand in many different fields. With countless high-class products in its range, such as the well-known C414, the name AKG has always been synonymous with quality and outstanding sound.
Front, front and back
For most of the typical forms of voice recording, such as podcasts, streams, or voice‑overs, the AKG Ara will be used with its directional front mode, which places the speaker's own voice in the foreground. The alternative – front‑back mode – captures signals from the front and rear of the microphone simultaneously, allowing, for example, two people sitting opposite each other to be recorded without an additional microphone. As such, the AKG Ara is suitable for interviews or similar, more spontaneous dialogue formats. The mic's integrated desktop stand allows it to be placed directly on ny work surface, instantly providing a ready‑to‑use solution for streaming and recording. However, if required, the stand can be removed so that the AKG Ara can be mounted on a boom arm or stand, allowing it to be used in a multitude of different, potentially more professional setups.
