ADAM Audio A7V

I got these as an upgrade to the previous A7X, and have been using the A8X. A77X and original A7 before along with other brands, such as Genelecs, Yamahas, KRK etc.. The detailed high-end really sets Adam apart from the rest!! The A7v voicing feature is really amazing, having them on the UNR-setting almost eliminates the need for a subwoofer! They sound really big and with a punchy low end, and seem a lot bigger than they are. The ethernet-functionallity is the main reason for my upgrade, being able to tune the speakers to my room with Sonarworks, and having it run in the speakers built-in DSP is a unique feature.

Update: having tried the Sonarworks integration i ended up manually tuning them using REW and a measurement mic. Love the control you have with the internal PEQ. Loving them so much that i´m thinking about upgrading to the A8h - keeping the sound but upgrading to a bigger 3-way... Pricey though.

Erstmal: ich bin kein hobby-producer etc., lediglich Liebhaber von unverfälschtem und klarem Klang. Ich nutze sie zum Musik hören und als Monitore für mein Digital Piano.
Der Klang ist traumhaft. vor allem die XRT-Tweeter und ihre klaren höhen die jede Subtilität eine Stückes beeindruckend wiedergeben ist ein highlight. Auch nach ersten Tests in nem Musikhaus hatte ich etwas angst sie würden in meiner Umgebung etwas zu dominant sein, aber nein. sind und waren sie nie. Auch der Tiefl-Mittelklang-Konus macht richtig was her und überzeugt auf voller Linie. Natürlich haben die Bändchen, in ihrer Natur eine vertikal eingeschränkte Abstrahlcharakteristik - aber es handelt sich immerhin um Monitore die ihren Zweck genau in diesem Bereich erfüllen sollen. Die Möglichkeit sie um 90° zu drehen sollte also auch jeden, der sie liegend verwendet, befriedigen.
Features: Ein Killer-Feature für mich ist die Möglichkeit Raumkorrektur-Profile von Sonarworks direkt am DSP laufen zu lassen. Das eröffnet das Potential sie auch ohne der Sonarworks-Software optimal kalibriert laufen zu lassen - also über Drittgeräte die das Soundinterface speisen. TOP ! Apropos: Raumkorrektur: Die wurde bei mir natürlich direkt durchgeführt und hat nochmal merkbar was rausgeholt. Viel mehr lässt sich nun nur noch durch Raumoptimierung machen. Im Gegensatz zu dem pre-defined UNR-Mode den man wählen kann, fehlt es nach der Raumkorrektur in meinem Fall etwas an tiefen. Mit aktivem UNR sind diese absolut präsent und ein Sub wäre ein meinem Fall unnötig. Letzteres gibt dem Klang allerdings eine Färbung die ich persönlich nicht möchte (absolute Geschmacksache). Darum werde ich nun, nach etwa 1,5 Wochen ausgiebigem testen, das System noch um einen Sub ergänzen. Ob ich den passend gut abgestimmt bekomme wird sich rausstellen ;-)
Letzteres kleines Feature das ich mir wünschen würde: Eine Abdeckung für die Tweeter und den Konus wäre Wünschenswert. Das Membranmaterial des Tiefmitteltöners wirkt sehr weich, nahezu flauschig. Ich glaube jeder kleine Spritzer Flüssigkeit der versehentlich mal darin landet wäre wenig wünschenswert und würde die Struktur beeinflussen. Muss nicht unbedingt sofort das schlimmste sein, möchte man allerdings auch nicht. Ein Snap-Cover dass sich magnetisch dranklippen und wegmachen lässt, wäre in meinen Augen eine ideale Ergänzung zu den sonst absolut beeindruckenden Lautsprechern !

Alles in allem trotzdem 5/5.

A pair of A7V’s have replaced a pair T7V’s that had served me well for years.

Rave review after rave review of the new (at the time) A7V’s piqued my interest enough to give them a try. I have been using them now for almost a year and I am constantly hearing parts and details in recordings that I had missed for decades on other speakers.

The clarity and smooth output of these monitors , combined with the built-in SoundID room correction software, makes me confident my mixes no longer require checking on other systems.

I have dispensed with the extra Yamaha, JBL, and Event monitors I had been using for cross references in my relatively small space (11’ x 13’) and now rely exclusively on the A7V’s.

I can’t imagine a better nearfield monitor at this price point.

Got these for almost 11 months now. This is my 4th monitor speaker set. Previuos ones were:

1. JBL 305
2. Kali Audio LP-6
3. KRK Rokit RP5 G4

Soundwise these are perfect and way better than one of the other options I tried.

Pros:
- Perfect sound!
- There is no HISS sound no matter of the big speakers, ( KALI had really nasty HISS )
- LAN Cable Control is perfect, no more going behind desk with flashlight and clicking buttons as others
- They are not so large , and fit very well
- very good freq range: 41Hz - 42 000Hz
- Sonarworks integration

Cons:
- so far only one I found is that these lack auto power off function when not used. Thou for me this is not a problema since I don't like this option and I always have Power button on my desk for speakers only.
- Price, as this is premium speaker, I think it's fair , same price range as Genelec

I paired these with RME ADI-2 Pro and it's now a killer combo

Det här blir en tråkig recension för jag har överhuvudtaget inget negativt att säga om A7V. Jag är fast i Adam Audios ekosystem och bytte till dessa monitorer från de billigare T7V. Först upplevde jag att A7V var lite tråkigare. Lite stramare, lite mer korrekt - faktiskt precis det som man behöver i en studio. Jag har ännu inte testat den inbyggda rumskorrigeringen utan använder istället min externa från ARC Studio vilket jag är mycket nöjd med. För mig som användare på hobbynivå är detta den perfekta studio monitorn - Speciellt i kombination med subwoofern T10S. Det är en fantastiskt detaljerad ljudbild när man mixar och mastrar - men trots att de är ganska strama och "fina" klarar de höga volymer utan att låta ansträngt.

Min rekommendation: Köp!

The A7V sounds absolutely fantastic after calibrating them to my room and adjusting amplifier level in "A Control". Reaching down to 40Hz with no port noise at loud volumes and oh so sweet sounding ribbon tweeter.

Here's a Tip:
Register on Adam Audio website and downloaded the "A Control" software so you can adjust all the functions without reaching the back of the monitors. Lower the Level of each monitor in Advanced mode (separate from the physical volume knob on the back) which further lowers the already quiet self-hiss coming form the monitors, then increase the output level form your audio interface, the result is completely silent monitors except when audio is playing, excellent for quiet studios.

Tip 2:
There is no auto sleep function in the Adam A series and reaching the back of the monitors is inconvenient depending on the location. Put them on a separate power strip with a switch. Hit the switch at the end of the day. Easy!

Absolutely fantastic monitors, I hope they last me decades.
